Accrescent is a novel, free, and open-source Android app store, built with Jetpack Compose and Kotlin, that prioritizes security, privacy, and usability. Its core features include a privacy-focused approach with no tracking or registration required, a lightweight design, dark mode, Material Design, and a robust software installer, all while allowing users to suggest and vote on new functionalities. Currently operational on Android 12 and up, the platform is actively developed, as evidenced by its presence on GitHub and Twitter. While it aims to carve out a market position focused on user control, user feedback from March 2023 and October 2024 indicates that its functionality is presently limited, with a very small selection of available applications when compared to more established competitors like F-Droid or Neo Store.
