Users can suggest and vote on features, and the platform provides a good UI, rich stats, a great API, and supports multiple community-made mobile apps. While praised for its interactive UI, site themes, and the ability to link watches to Crunchyroll, AniList faces significant criticism regarding its community and moderation. Reviews frequently highlight issues with "corrupt" and "toxic woke" moderators who are accused of bias, power abuse, and allowing hate comments targeting certain groups while banning others for "LGBT related jokes" or using specific terms. The platform's database is also criticized for being "racist" and "restricted," focusing exclusively on Asian creations and excluding non-Asian manhwa, light novels, and webtoons. Technical flaws include a lack of export functionality for lists, publicly visible "private" anime statuses, and a "ridiculous" minimum review length of 2200 characters.
