Ashok Leyland Limited is an Indian multinational automotive manufacturer, headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Founded on 7 September 1948 as Ashok Motors, it became Ashok Leyland in 1955 after a collaboration with British Leyland. The company is now owned by the Hinduja Group. As a public company, Ashok Leyland reported a revenue of 45,931 crore (US$5.4 billion) in 2024. It holds a significant market position as the second largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in India (with a market share of 32.1% in 2016), the third largest manufacturer of buses globally, and the tenth largest manufacturer of lorries worldwide.
