It was formed on January 1, 1995, through the restructuring of Deutsche Bundespost, a state monopoly at the time. The company is the world's largest telecommunications provider by revenue and the biggest in Europe, also ranking as the world's fifth-largest telecommunications company overall. In 2023, it reported a revenue of €112.0 billion, securing its position at number 79 in Fortune Magazine's Global 500 and 41st in the Forbes Global 2000. Deutsche Telekom operates several subsidiaries worldwide, notably including the mobile communications brand T-Mobile.
