K6 is an open-source load testing tool developed by Grafana Labs, designed to help developers and engineers test the performance and reliability of their systems, particularly APIs, microservices, and websites. This load testing solution functions as both an HTTP load and functional test tool, written in Go and utilizing the goja embedded JavaScript interpreter for test scripting purposes. Tests are crafted in ECMAScript 6 using the Babel transpiler, offering robust support for features such as HTTP/2, TLS, test assertions, ramp up and down, duration, and a specified number of iterations. While standard metrics are reported to standard out, K6 also includes collectors that can report to time-series databases for real-time visualization, and it provides a Jenkins plugin that can be combined with global pass/fail criteria thresholds.
