KDDI Corporation is a Japanese telecommunications operator established in 2000 through the merger of DDI, KDD, and IDO. In 2001, it merged with its subsidiary Au, formed from the merger of seven automotive and mobile phone companies from the DDI-Cellular Group. KDDI's roots trace back to 1953 with the establishment of Kokusai Denshin Denwa (KDD) as a state-owned enterprise and DDI in 1984. As of 2020, KDDI is the second-largest mobile telecommunications provider in Japan, following NTT Docomo. The company's revenue in 2020 was JP 5.24 trillion. KDDI is headquartered in Iidabashi, Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan.
