NTPC Limited, formerly known as National Thermal Power Corporation, is an Indian Central Public Sector Undertaking owned by the Ministry of Power and the Government of India, engaged in electricity generation and distribution to State Electricity Boards in India. Founded on November 7, 1975, and headquartered in New Delhi, NTPC also undertakes consultancy and turnkey project contracts involving engineering, project management, construction management, and power plant operation and management. With a revenue of ₹1.88 lakh crore (US$22 billion) in 2025, NTPC operates as a Central Public Sector Undertaking.
