Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is India's largest government-owned oil and gas explorer and producer, established on August 14, 1956, by the Government of India. Operating as a central public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, ONGC is headquartered in Delhi, India. The company is a dominant force in the Indian energy sector, responsible for approximately 70% of the nation's domestic crude oil production and about 84% of its natural gas output. In November 2010, ONGC was granted the prestigious Maharatna status. For the year 2024, the public company reported a substantial revenue of 655,259 crore (US$78 billion), focusing its operations on the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas.
