OpenEye Scientific, originally known as Open Eye Scientific Software, was founded in 1997 by Anthony Nicholls. Headquartered in Santa Fe, New Mexico, United States, the company specializes in developing large-scale molecular modelling applications and toolkits for the Computer software, Research and development, Biotechnology, and Cheminformatics industries. A significant milestone occurred in September 2022 when Cadence Design Systems acquired OpenEye for $500 million. Following this acquisition, the company was rebranded to Open Eye Cadence Molecular Sciences and now operates as a business unit under Cadence.
