Southwest Airlines Co., also known simply as Southwest, is a major United States airline headquartered in the Love Field neighborhood of Dallas, Texas. Founded on March 9, 1967, as Air Southwest, the company formerly operated on a low-cost carrier model. As of 2023, it stands as the fourth-largest airline in North America by passengers carried. Southwest operates an exclusive all-Boeing 737 fleet, providing service to over 100 destinations across 42 US states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and ten countries in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea regions, including Aruba, the Bahamas, Belize, the Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica, and Turks and Caicos. The airline reported a substantial revenue of US$27.5 billion in 2024.
