La pesca industrial del Biobío es una industria de alimentos, motor de desarrollo para la región. Nuestros más de 6.500 trabajadores, la mitad de ellos mujeres y en su mayoría jefas de hogar, se desempeñan en plantas elaboradoras de productos para el consumo humano directo e indirecto, emplazadas en Talcahuano, Coronel y Tomé. También en nuestros Pesqueros de Alta Mar, dedicados a la captura de jurel, sardina y anchoveta, merluza común y langostinos.
